Dance term
Reverse turn
A turn that rotates to the left, anticlockwise, the mirror image of the natural turn.
A reverse turn rotates the couple to the left, anticlockwise, and is simply the natural turn's mirror image. Having both means a couple can curve either way and keep flowing around the floor rather than only ever turning one direction.
In the Viennese waltz especially, alternating natural and reverse turns is most of the dance.
