Heel turn
A turn made on the heel of one foot while the other foot closes to it, used in the smooth dances, especially by the follow in the foxtrot.
In a heel turn the dancer turns on the heel of the supporting foot as the other foot draws in beside it, then transfers weight onto that foot to finish. It keeps the movement low and smooth, which is why it belongs to the gliding dances like the foxtrot rather than the bouncy ones.
It takes practice because the turn happens on the heel rather than the ball of the foot, which feels unusual at first.
