Tango
One of the five International Standard dances: dramatic, in 2/4 time, with grounded movement, staccato actions and no rise and fall.
A dramatic ballroom dance danced in 2/4 time at 31–33 bars per minute (124–132 BPM). Tango is characterised by grounded movement, staccato actions, sharp changes of direction and powerful expression. Unlike the other Standard dances, Tango has no rise and fall.
Also called: ballroom tango, international tango.
